Install the Leuven-Template step 5 of 7

This document is based on the Windows version of WeatherLink.

I am not aware of any real WeatherLink manual on-line or in a PDF file. Maybe its a good moment to check the help file on the install CD again.

Assumptions

The following assumptions are made for all text / examples on this page about locations of data:

The StationName used below is the name you assigned to your station in the setup of WeatherLink. You can see that name also in the top part of the WeatherLink window after the date field.

what where
WeatherLink is installed in: C:\WeatherLink
Files to be uploaded are stored then in: C:\WeatherLink\StationName\Templates
Default upload folder on your webserver:
www.your-web-site.com/
weather28/uploadWL/
file to be used forWeatherLink namewhere to get that filetemplate file nameupload frequency
Weather-data values for all pages of the template tags.wl.htx scriptsWL/ tags.wl.txt 5 minutes
Yesterday values tagsyday.wl.htx tagsyday.wl.txt at 23:55
Realtime weather-data values for all pages of the template realtimev3.htx realtimev3.txt every minute
Graphs, based on type and availability of sensors:
trend and graph page built in built in multiple see example
Steelseries

You have to download the three files from the scriptsWL/ folder (using your standard FTP program) and put them in the C:\WeatherLink\StationName\Templates folder on your PC where you are running WeatherLink.

Here you find only basic information on the setup of WeatherLink. Please study the documentation and /or ask your questions on the VWS specific parts of the forum.

In this image you see all fields you should set. Your provider should has given you the details and the how-to. The default upload folder is weather28/uploadWL/
Sometimes you have to add extra information before the path, such as /html_public/ or /httpdocs/

Now we are going to instruct WeatherLink to upload the files we need for the template. In WeatherLink go to:

  • menu⇒Setup
  • select Internet Settings
  • select an empty Profiles and
  • click button ⇒Configure

You can now set the number of minutes between uploads and the new extension Weatherlink have to use for the file to be uploaded. You can than enter the files to upload by clicking on Select Template files.

One can only use 1 file type (php or xml or txt) per profile. Also 1 frequency (every n minutes) is possible. You need at least

  • 1 profile for yesterday value (at 23.55 once per day)
  • 1 profile for current weather values, every 5 minutes with extension php.
  • 1 profile every minute for Steelseries gauges

One file is a more special. The yesterday values are not kept by WeatherLink directly. Todays min/max are. So what we do (invented by Ken True of Saratoga.weather.org) is to use todays minimum and maximum values just before the end of the day. So at 23:55 (11:55 PM) we ask WeatherLink to upload a file with todays values and use that the next day as yesterday values. And after 23:59 they realy become yesterday values.

The template uses some graphs for the page: Almanac=⇒Station Graphs separate If you want to use that page go to:

  • menu⇒Setup then
  • select Internet Settings then
  • select an empty Profiles and
  • click button ⇒Configure
  • Below the Historical Data Images box click Select.

Select all graphs as in the folowing image:

Same procedure for the Steelseries graphs, but now we select the Current Images to upload.
