Install the Leuven-Template step 5 of 7

Setup Meteoplug

Using meteoplug.com needs the following steps:

  1. Set the correct sensor names (such as thb0) to be used by the template
  2. Generate the "template' file to be used by Meteoplug
  3. Store that generated file in your scriptsMP/ folder
  4. Instruct Meteoplug to use that file when requested so

Step 1 & 2 Generate the template file for Meteoplug

You have to use a small configuration script as soon as you are satiefied with your settings. Meteoplug is a very extensive server which can drive multiple weatherstations at the same time.

Use your website to go to the configuration page by

  • choosing menu Development and then
  • Generate files

Here you select which sensors and with which sensore-names are attached to your station.

Other available sensors are not supported by the template.

Press the button “save your changes” when you are finished.

You will see a message at the top of the page that your sensor settings are saved for now.

Now press the button "Download sensor based files". The next page will be shown where you can select he file to download. In future releases the users will probably propose other files to be generated, but this one is the most important, containing all needed tags for now.

Click on the link for tags.mp.txt and that file will be downloaded to your PC/Mac.

Step 3 Copy that file to your website

The just generated/downloaded file should now be stored in a convenient place for Meteoplug to access. The scriptsMP/ folder is the correct place. There is already a version of tags.mp.txt but that one is using all standard names for the sensors. You should upload your customized version and replace the default one.

Step 4 Tell Meteoplug to use your tags.mb.txt

Define a chart to use our file

  1. Go in your Meteoplug account to "Define chart"
Do not select a existing chart
  2. Type www.yourwebsite.com/weather28/uploadMP/tags.mp.txt
You have to use your real site name and location of the file.
  3. Type a easy name to remember the chart.
  4. Press test to check if Meteoplug found the file.
A small browser window will be opened with a lot of data in it, than it is OK.

Display the chart to capture the external URL to your chart

  1. Go in your Meteoplug account to "Show chart"
  2. Select the chart you just saved
  3. Press the link at the bottom "Call chart as URL"

Copy the external URL of your chart

  1. Again a browser window will open with a lot of text in it
  2. All that text is your weather data which will be used by the template later
What we now need is the last part of the URL after the word draw=

Go to _my_texts/mp_links.txt

# ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
# FIRST for users which use METEOPLUG as their weather-program:
# ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
# key for the load data url as described in the wiki
$mp_load	= "test";	// as long as you not put your key here the test-data is used

Up nutil now we tested with a test file to make sure all settings are correct.
You should now replace the wordt test with the draw toke you copied shortly ago.

$mp_load	= "84878781899f8bcfcf65c89dd6d0cddcd2c3c3";	// as long as you not put your key here the test-data is used

From now on the data will be loaded from your meteoplug account and not from the test file which was used so far. Your real data should show up now.
